Chez Pascal French Restaurant

Atmosphere and service much nicer than food. Having said that even though waiters are friendly they pretty much have to be hailed with a lot of motion to provide assistance (ie extra water, drink, bread).
Food was drowned in butter and garlic which made it repeat itself on us for the next 24 hours. I mean I’ve been to France many times and that is NOT French food - those 2 are meant to accompany food not overwhelm it and should not be in everything.
ABSOLUTELY UNFORGIVABLE is to have been served up reconstituted mashed potatoes - ie they mixed up shop bought powdered mash with cream and veggie stock and served it as mash - that is just not on in a 3rd grade restaurant, not to mention at their prices.
Chef who comes out to ask how we liked the meal after each meal got very uppity when we asked if we've been served up a powdered mash - he confirmed that’s what it was and then stormed off with an angry expression. I mean, why insult our intelligence by not expecting we'd recognise the taste of a powdered potato and then act all insulted when you know served us slop?
After the disaster the initial 2 course were we were not game to ask for a desert both out of fear of getting something that sucked and after the filthy look we got form the chef we were afraid of being served up else in it as well…
We thought coffee would be safe but were given brown lukewarm water and told that was the only coffee they do serve – no choice given at all
I only wish I stayed at home instead – would have saved ourselves a lot of money and avoid feeling miserable
